Coaching and Helping out at Devizes Junior Rugby
Devizes Junior Rugby relies completely on our fantastic band of volunteers to keep the club running. Every Sunday morning during the season up to 200 young people take part in coaching or playing matches against other local clubs. To keep this running we need help. If you would like to help please come along on a Sunday morning and see any member of the committee or any coach, alternatively use the contact form on this web site to contact the chairman. We do not just need help with the coaching, but running a club for young people these days needs a lot of administration, as well as help in behind the scenes. For example, did you know that on match days our wonderful volunteers in the kitchen will provide hot food for up to 150 young players!
If you feel that you would like to be involved in the coaching side of the club, there are training courses available which will give you all of the skills you need to run a team. And as well as the lead coach, each age group will need assistant coaches and team managers.
Then there is the committee with Chairman, Vice-Chair, Secretary, Treasurer, Coaching co-ordinator and Welfare officer.
Other administration requirements include processing Registrations and taking subscriptions, organising fixtures, catering support, website administration and liaison with the senior club, dealing with the county organisations, publicity and fund-raising.
To keep this large organisation running and to share the load we would like to talk to anyone who can spare some time to help us. We are a friendly group and all we want to do is to keep young people in the Devizes area playing youth rugby.
