Teams and the Ground
The Junior section of Devizes Rugby Club runs on Sunday mornings from the first Sunday in September to the last Sunday in April. Training sessions usually take place from 10:30 to 12:00, with some midweek training depending on the age group. Our Colts team runs on Sunday afternoons. We play competitive and friendly matches throughout the season to allow the players to practice what they have been taught, in a match environment. Please come along and talk to us.
We consider ourselves to be a small but friendly club and parents are always welcome at the ground. Of course if you want to be involved in the running of the club or a team we would particularly welcome you. All age groups have qualified coaches and all adults involved in the club have passed the RFU Child Protection requirements.
The Junior section runs squads in all age groups from Under 7 to Under 16 and Colts (17's and 18's). We operate according to the RFU continuum which sets out the way clubs must run their youth sections. We welcome both boys and girls, who are coached in mixed groups up to and including Under 12's. After that the girls and boys operate their own squads. Because of numbers of participants we run girls squads for Under13/14 and Under15/16. Boys have squads operating at all age groups.
The year for your son or daughter is decided upon their age at midnight on the 1st September. The youngest age we can accept players at is 6. They are welcome to participate in training at the age of 6 but may not play in competitive matches until they are in the Under 7 age group.
